Some of you might remember Vultisig running an AMA on this sub a while back. Theirs stuck with me, because the pitch stood out: a seedless wallet & MPC tech. It was one of the more interesting security designs I'd seen posted here. The last couple weeks of wallet news brought it straight back to mind, because the things that just went wrong for other wallets are the exact things Vultisig is built to avoid.

Two stories set it off. Late July, a firmware bug in Coldcard caused some units to generate seeds with weak randomness, and attackers reconstructed those seeds remotely and drained them. TRM Labs put it around 1,816 BTC, over $116M. Then the data-leak side of the space kept getting hit. Ledger's 2020 breach exposed roughly a million emails and 272,000 records with names, phone numbers, and home addresses, which got dumped publicly and turned into phishing, extortion, even physical threats at people's homes. More recently a Trezor shipping provider got breached too (their own wallets and infrastructure were fine, it was a third-party fulfillment partner). Different companies but the same two failure modes: a compromised seed, and leaked customer data used to phish you, or worse.

Here is what made me think of Vultisig specifically. Both of those failures need a target that Vultisig does not give them. It is a seedless MPC wallet: instead of one seed phrase or one private key, your key is split into encrypted shares across your own devices (vault shares), and every transaction needs a threshold of them to sign. No single device moves funds alone, and there is no seed phrase in the setup at all. So the Coldcard-style attack has no seed to reconstruct, and a phishing email has no 24 words to ask you for.

The data-leak part is even more basic. Ledger and Trezor have to ship you a physical device, so somebody has to store your name, address, phone, and email, and that is the database that leaks. Vultisig is a free app you download. Nothing gets shipped, so there is no address book to breach, and they say they do not collect user data in the first place. You cannot leak what you never collected.

I am not going to claim any wallet is unhackable, and MPC has its own tradeoffs worth understanding before you move anything. Keep your hardware wallet if it is working for you. The point is that the two things that keep costing people, one bad seed and one leaked customer list, are designed out of this one. Yet again, it goes to show this sub contains great information.

Hey everyone in this reddit, I used to make money off memecoins back in 2024, and it was amazing, but now its pretty grimy, so i would like to start investing some of my paycheck into something so that i could make money in the future. But i don't know where to do my research since its mostly people shilling or idk the term. Any advice where to do my research or what i should invest?

From 2016-2025, nearly every DeFi primitive was about making your assets "productive." DeFi figured out how to use your WBTC as collateral for loans, lend your USDC, stake/restake your eth, etc. It was incredible because you no longer had idle assets, but assets you could leverage for additional yield. This was optimized for a decade, but now there's really nothing new coming out for turning idle assets into productive assets. The next frontier is "hyper-productive assets," where a single asset has multiple streams for becoming productive.

In my research, Katana is the best chain for making hyper productive assets. I'm probably the biggest Katana bull on Reddit, and my conviction is back by results I've achieved due to the chain's features. Since Katana just reintroduced krates (I made a previous post about krates) and re-upped Morpho incentives, I'm going to share some of my strategy and hopefully give everyone some solid alpha and ways to make money, because, well, that's why we're all here.

I farmed stablecoins on katana from the time they announced the chain in June of 2025 through today. While I was farming the stables, I was able to use my vault position as collateral to borrow more stables and loop. This earned me ~6% APY on the stables and KAT tokens. At TGE, this worked out to ~25% APY at TGE, given the KAT price. So all in, I earned ~30% on my stables for the first year.

Now here is where things get really fun and how I've been turning the KAT I earned (and later purchased) into a hyper-productive asset.

Start with the base layer, how KAT becomes productive: avKAT & vKAT. If you hold KAT, you stake it into vKAT or avKAT, an autocompounding vault. Every 2 weeks, users vote on where to direct KAT incentives (right now different LP for swaps), and different pools put up USDC and other tokens as incentives for voting for them. vKAT gives USDC rewards while avKAT compounds automatically. This went live ~ mid April. For every $1000 at TGE in vKAT I've voted with, I've gained ~$250 back (25% raw, ~75% APY) while avKAT has appreciated ~33%, meaning a 120% APY on KAT. The difference is due to KAT depreciating in price and I'm calculating the vKAT on TGE. If base it on price at return, vKAT is ~150% returns APY.

Now how does KAT become hyperproductive? avKAT is composable, as it's a liquid staking token. You can use it as an LP token or in lending protocols. I supply it as collateral on Morpho & borrow against it. There are 3 pools where avKAT can be used as collateral - avKAT:KAT, avKAT:USDC, and avKAT:USDT.

I have roughly 2.5x'd my avKAT exposure by looping in the avKAT:KAT pool. I supply the avKAT, borrow KAT, stake the borrowed KAT for avKAT, resupply avKAT, borrow more KAT, etc. The borrow rate for KAT is currently ~1.5%, has historically been 1-4% with brief spikes to 10-15% when utilization is 100%, while avKAT is returning 30-50% each epoch currently. This loop gives can give you leveraged exposure to avKAT's compounding in the 2-4x range, depending on how hard you push it. It's a positive carry, leveraged loop.

But that's not all. I also keep avKAT to use as collateral to borrow USDC & USDT. The borrow rates are typically in the 2-4% range. Katana recently added incentives to Morpho vaults. In these Morpho vaults, the native supply rate is in the 3-4% range, so the borrow typically is at a breakeven. However, the new incentives are pushing rates to the 6-10% range. As a benchmark, Aave supply rates for stablecoins is 2-5%, and I'm earning 4-6% in stablecoins on my avKAT, while my avKAT is earning 60-100% on itself with the loop. My avKAT does three jobs: compounding as a vault, backing my KAT loop, & backing a stablecoin borrow. One asset, three income streams.

And to go next level, you're earning XP in Katana Quests. Every one of these actions, supplying, borrowing, LPing, holding avKAT, earns XP. That XP redeems for Krates, which pay out more avKAT, which you feed right back into the stack. The farming you're already doing prints a bonus layer of rewards on top. The quest XP gives another ~1% on stablecoins and 1.5% on avKAT, so the stables are now netting 5-7% APY on the avKAT I already hold.

So count the jobs on a single avKAT stack: it compounds itself, it levers into more KAT, it backs a stablecoin borrow, those stables earn in a vault, & the whole thing prints XP for Krates. That's what I call hyperproductive.

"But Timmy, wHeRe DoEs ThE yIeLd CoMe FrOm?" On most chains these APYs are token emissions on a countdown, printed until the budget runs dry, & then the loop collapses. Katana funds it differently. When you bridge an asset onto Katana, its Vault Bridge puts that asset to work in yield strategies on Ethereum instead of letting it sit idle. That yield comes back to the chain as real revenue, & Katana recycles the revenue into the incentives you're farming. Katana is literally running their own hyper-productive strategies for assets bridged to their chain.

Katana is built so your assets never sit still & those who seek yield get insane upside. The hyper-productive capital sitting on top of a revenue engine that recycles into more yield.

I bought a small amount a while ago and only checked it again recently. The price collapsed, xcellar.ai seems down, and the official X account appears suspended.

I’m not trying to accuse anyone of anything. I just can’t find a simple explanation or any actual news: was there an exploit, a shutdown, a team update, a delisting, or did the project just fade out?

Long read on how credit card networks work, where they're strong, where they're weak, and how blockchains and stablecoins actually address those weaknesses. And why stablecoin cards are growing in popularity.

Card networks are a marvel of human coordination.

Every second, they process over 25,000 transactions around the world. Each year, they move over $30 trillion across 800 billion payments.

With a tap or a swipe, you can buy just about anything at 175M+ merchant locations. In person or online.

But while making a card purchase feels instant to you, the systems that actually move money from your account to the merchant are not so simple. They rely on pre-internet financial plumbing that imposes real costs on the companies behind your card. Costs that compound when money needs to cross borders.

While hard for the average person to see, these costs have restricted everyone but the deepest-pocketed companies from offering card services. Even for them, whole populations remain unprofitable to serve.

Here, I'll explain how card networks work, identify their strengths and where they’re showing their age. Then I'll explain how stablecoin cards preserve those strengths, while upgrading antiquated financial plumbing for the modern era.

By the end, you'll understand why stablecoins underlie more and more of the world's $30 trillion in card payments each year.

Authorization: the 2-second miracle

To buy your $5 morning coffee, you tap your card and within two seconds the transaction is approved and you’re on your way.

Unbeknownst to you, that tap sets off a series of messages. From the card reader, to the coffee shop's bank, through the card network, to your card issuer. This process confirms that you can afford the coffee, and that the purchase doesn't look like fraud. An approval then races back along the same path. All in two seconds.

This is where the marvel of the system lies. It lets two strangers, represented by two different institutions, transact in an instant, and then move the money later, according to a set of rules neither of you ever had to think about.

It works billions of times a day, the same in Boston or Bogotá, and everywhere in between.

Interchange: the cost of miracles

To accept your payment, the coffee shop hands over a cut of your $5. In the US, usually around 2-3%.

That 2-3% is split among three different companies. The card network (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) keeps a small sliver. Another sliver goes to the payment processor that the merchant uses to accept the card (Square, Toast, etc.). Then the rest goes to the company that issued the card.

The fee that goes to your card issuer is called interchange.

Interchange is the engine that makes the entire system work. Without it, no business would take on the risk and costs associated with issuing your card. It also funds the rewards you likely enjoy, as many card issuers pass a portion of these fees back to you, in the form of cash back, airline miles, and more.

These fees are the cost of using this complex system that magically authorizes billions of transactions a day. 24/7.

But this two-second approval is only the first part of the story. Moving the actual money takes two steps: clearing, then settlement.

Clearing: the great compression

When your coffee purchase was approved, your card issuer sent a message telling your coffee shop you were good for it. Along with an agreement to send the money later.

No money actually moved.

The first step is called clearing. At the end of the day, the coffee shop's bank bundles your transaction with every other, and submits the list to the card network.

The network takes that list, along with lists from the banks of millions of other merchants, and nets everything out into an even simpler list. One that shows what each bank owes, and what each bank is owed.

Clearing is another marvel of the system. It compresses billions of daily transactions into a short list of IOUs between banks.

However, the next step, where the money actually moves, is where the system is starting to show its age.

Settlement: pre-internet financial plumbing

Settlement is the vast behind-the-scenes machinery that shuffles money from your card issuer to the coffee shop's bank. Plus about $80 billion more from every other purchase that day.

Money moves not one coffee at a time, but in massive, netted batches. Banks that owe pay the card network. Then the network pays the banks that are owed. This is effectively when your coffee shop gets paid.

On a debit card, it comes straight out of your account. On a credit card, your card issuer fronts it, and collects from you at a later date.

The system works well enough. You’ve long finished your coffee by this point, and the coffee shop gets paid eventually.

The challenge sits with the company behind your card. It has to make sure it always has enough money on hand when these settlement batches come due. For your coffee purchase, and for the purchases of every other customer it serves.

And it has to do so through systems built in a pre-internet world.

These systems produce lags, which is where the first big problem appears.

Prefunding: the cost of waiting

Settlement runs on bank time.

In the US, most settlement moves through two systems: ACH and Fedwire. One built in the 1970s, the other with roots in 1918. Neither runs on nights, weekends or holidays.

So if you bought your coffee Friday at 5:30pm, the money won’t move to the merchant until Monday morning. Tuesday if it’s a long holiday weekend. And this lag is where the system’s first hidden tax shows up. Not for you or the coffee shop, but for your card issuer.

Your issuer has to be ready to pay for your $5 coffee, and every other transaction from that weekend. Let’s say its customers spend $1M a day, and Monday is a holiday. It’ll need $4M sitting in an account by Friday night waiting to move Tuesday morning.

That idle money waiting for settlement is called prefunding. It's money the card issuer could be using for working capital, or reinvesting in its business. Instead it just sits there, waiting for pre-internet financial plumbing to kick in during banking hours.

Now imagine your card issuer needs to settle $10M or $100M a day. Then it becomes $40M or $400M in idle capital.

There's no fundamental reason it needs to work like this, other than the fact that these settlement systems are heavily entrenched. It's why, historically, card programs could only be run by banks with pockets deep enough to leave that kind of money sitting idle. And it leaves less room for smaller, more nimble issuers.

Cross-border: where the pipes end

Up until now, we've focused on a single US domestic transaction.

One country, one currency, one holiday calendar.

Now imagine you live in Colombia, spending pesos on a card issued locally. You can buy your coffee in Bogotá with the same two-second approval, and your card issuer runs into the same prefunding expense.

What if you buy a Claude subscription online from Anthropic (a US company)? For you, nothing changes. You tap and pay in pesos. But for a cross-border transaction like this, the network must be paid in dollars. Your card issuer now owes a currency it doesn't hold.

US dollar settlement systems (ACH and Fedwire) are only available to US banks. So your card issuer has to do what nearly everyone outside the US does. It opens an account at a bank in New York, converts pesos to dollars, and prefunds it. That bank then settles US dollar transactions on its behalf.

Opening that account takes months of compliance reviews. Funding it takes an FX trade, which takes a spread. And the instructions to move the money travel over SWIFT, a bank messaging network founded in 1973.

This daisy-chain of banks holding money for other banks is called the correspondent banking system.

And it means your card issuer now runs prefunding twice. One pot of idle pesos in Bogotá. One pot of idle dollars in New York. Two holiday calendars to manage.

If your card issuer wants to serve users in Mexico, Argentina, and Europe, it gets more complicated. Each new market means another local bank willing to hold its money, more FX spreads to pay, and more idle capital to lock up. Three more pots, five in all, scattered around the world.

Serving a global audience takes even deeper pockets and a ton of patience. For businesses born on the internet, whose users show up from everywhere on day one, it's a structural mismatch. Global companies are forced into geographic borders.

Enter stablecoins

Stablecoins emerged in 2014, originally as a way to trade in and out of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

They move over blockchains, which are essentially a new kind of database that runs 24/7, 365. Stablecoin issuers back these digital dollars with liquid assets, mostly US Treasuries. As long as each one can be redeemed for a dollar in the banking system, they hold their value at $1.

Stablecoins soon grew popular in emerging markets. Especially among people who wanted the stability of dollars but couldn't get dollar bank accounts.

While having clear advantages over traditional dollars, mainly that they move 24/7 at little cost to anyone with an internet connection, they weren't ready for mainstream adoption. They were technically complex to use, and nearly impossible for merchants to accept.

Enter stablecoin cards

The first stablecoin cards appeared in 2019. They let you spend stablecoins anywhere cards were accepted. But the card issuer simply sold your stablecoins for ordinary dollars and settled with the card networks the old-fashioned way.

The companies behind the card still had to prefund ordinary dollars in a bank account, settle on bank time, through every pre-internet pipe described above. Same as before.

None of the settlement bottlenecks were addressed. They just bolted stablecoins onto the old system.

Enter stablecoin settlement

Then in 2021, Visa became the first major network to accept a stablecoin for settlement.

Visa began letting card issuers settle in USDC, a popular stablecoin, directly with the Visa network. And since blockchains aren't tethered to legacy banking hours, Visa eventually enabled settlement 365 days a year. Mastercard followed suit.

Rain was the first company to offer stablecoin cards that settled 7 days a week, and provides the infrastructure for the majority of these programs.

For merchants, nothing changed. They still got paid out by the card network in their local currency. But this back office upgrade changed the game for the companies behind your card.

Daily settlement eliminated the need to park millions to account for multi-day lags. A single pot of stablecoin collateral could now serve a global audience, breaking reliance on the correspondent banking system.

Serving the world no longer required a banking empire.

Anatomy of a stablecoin card swipe

Let's return to your original $5 coffee purchase. Nothing about the experience changes for you or the coffee shop.

You tap your card or your phone. The same message races from the coffee shop's bank, through the card network, to the company behind your card. The only difference is what it's checking: that you have enough spending power onchain, rather than in a bank account.

The answer comes back along the same path. You're good for it, and it doesn't look like fraud. Two seconds, approved.

The coffee shop hands over its 2-3% fee, split the same three ways. Your rewards still get funded. At the end of the day, your purchase lands on the netted list alongside hundreds of millions of others. That list tells your card company exactly what it owes the network.

Everything from the tap through clearing runs exactly as it always has.

The difference comes when it's time for settlement. The multi-day prefunding pile-up vanishes. Instead, the company behind your card sends the network one lump daily payment in stablecoins, covering your coffee and everything else its customers bought that day.

It can make that payment any day of the year. On a Saturday. On Christmas morning. The network then pays out the merchant banks in regular currency. The same as it always has.

Prefunding, revisited

Recall your Friday evening coffee purchase heading into a holiday weekend. Your card program settling $1M a day no longer has to park $4M to wait for Fedwire and ACH to open Tuesday morning.

Friday's bill gets paid Friday. Saturday's gets paid Saturday. Most of that $4M stays in the program's hands every weekend. More as it scales.

That money goes back to work, funding growth, product, and payroll. Every card program becomes more profitable to run. So more companies launch branded cards, and existing programs expand into markets that never made economic sense before.

The net result is access to more financial services for more people.

Cross-border, revisited

Fly back to Bogotá. Now your card is backed by digital dollars, rather than pesos.

Like many in Latin America, you're happy to save in US dollars. You can buy your local coffee, and your coffee shop can still get paid in pesos through the card network. And you can buy your Claude or ChatGPT subscription just the same.

The difference for the company behind your card is huge. It no longer needs separate idle pots of pesos and dollars sitting in Bogotá and New York. Every bill from the network is due in dollars, and your coffee and Claude subscription are paid from the same stablecoin balance.

This eliminates the need to set up a banking relationship in New York. No FX trade to fund it, no spread to pay. No SWIFT instructions to send.

Similarly, expansion to Mexico, Argentina, and Europe no longer requires a local bank to hold its money, or new holiday calendars to manage. Every new market settles daily from the same wallet. Five pots of idle capital become one.

For a card program, the correspondent banking system just became optional.

Who's building on stablecoin cards

Companies big and small are launching stablecoin cards, creating new financial services that weren’t viable before.

There’s a new class of neobanks focused on narrow markets they know best, like the many teams across Latin America offering dollar accounts to users the banks never served. Internet marketplaces are putting cards in the hands of a global user base without dealing with a patchwork of correspondent banks.

Established institutions that could afford the old way of doing business are finding it cheaper to run on the new one. Like the world's largest remittance company, now sending stablecoins straight to the recipient's phone, spendable through an embedded card the moment they land.

Stablecoin cards make up a small share of card payments today, but judging by who's building on them, that won't be true for long.

The invisible upgrade

You've likely never thought about the authorization, clearing, and settlement systems that transfer your $5 to your coffee shop. Nor should you have to. The same is true with stablecoin cards. They just work, without the average person ever noticing anything has changed.

What people will notice is financial services becoming more abundant. That more companies are able to offer them. And that more institutions are serving people who were never profitable to serve before.

Stablecoin cards have rebuilt settlement from first principles. The rest of the card stack comes next. The messaging protocol behind each swipe still runs on a standard from 1987 and is due for an upgrade. Merchants will increasingly want to be paid out in stablecoins directly. And AI agents will transact with each other in stablecoins, using cards to touch the real economy.

Most importantly, stablecoin cards have made stablecoins compatible with the existing financial system. Famously, mobile phones first had to work with landlines before becoming the standard and producing innovations no one predicted. I expect stablecoins to do the same.

This is where the world is headed. The upgrade is already well underway.

So how likely is it that VCs like Jane Street and Multicoin Capital had early access to Opus and used it to exploit ZEC?

Why are coins moving out of Orchard so quickly now that another shielded pool has been created?

I know there are mobile apps that do this. But then again just about anyone can vibe code something like this using Claude. Would you guys prefer to actually build something on your own using an AI agent (which seems painfully easy to do these days), or do you guys go with the tried and true apps that you can download on Google Play or the Apple App store instead?

So I have a project that a client of mine has come to me with a project so users can pay market stall vendors at an event

Effectively these users would have an RFID band that's topped up with said virtual currency then they pay the vendors using the rfid band that has their currency loaded on it

Ideally this would need to be some sort of offline Blockchain that's not reliant on the internet

Is there something pre existing that exists for me to:

1 - a wallet that can be loaded to an RFID system

2 - an open source wallet that can be developed on

3 - A way to create some branded tokens

Every crypto payment provider posts a nice low headline rate then you find out there's a minimum volume, KYC tier, or "enterprise pricing" wall behind it. Anyone actually gotten a straight answer on pricing before going through onboarding, INXY or otherwise?

Are there any places that you dont have to register your name to buy/send btc?

Crazy to me that something that is supposed to be decentralized and private, makes you send your license in to purchase....

I run a small remote consulting business and we have been receiving payments from clients across different countries. Some clients prefer paying with local credit cards, while others want to use direct bank transfers like SEPA or ACH. Our main problem is the delay and high conversion fees from standard international banking rails. We are looking into using digital asset payment ramps to speed up settlements and keep conversion costs manageable.

The main requirement is having a gateway that works reliably in multiple countries without locking accounts for random verification delays. Curious what platforms or gateways you guys use to accept client payments smoothly.

What is your process of researching one before buying?

1. Do you buy on hype and fomo and what big influencers say?

2. Do you just choose one from the top 100 and look at only the mcap, tokenomics, narrative, purpose and choose one you might believe has potential?

3. Or do you dive deeper reading about tokenomics, holders, purpose, github, founders and team, on chain analysis, competitors, users, adoption, revenue and fees, and all these deep research info before buying one?

1. How does one know what currency is coming from a specific wallet? Do you give them some sort of code thats linked to the wallet? If so, how do you get this code?

2. How does escrow work? My understanding is that party X puts their currency into party Zs escrow wallet once party X and Y comes to an agreement, then party Y sends a payment to party X. Once party X receives payment, they release then escrow wallet funds which goes directly into party Ys wallet. If either party doesn't send their side of the payment they can dispute with party Z, who then determines the owner of the crypto in the escrow wallet. Is this correct or am I severely wrong?

3. What should the terms of the agreement look like?

4. How would you dispute it if the other person doesn't release the crypto in the escrow wallet, what would be considered good evidence for the dispute assuming its going through zelle or BOA? Just a start to finish recording untill the dispute is claimed? Wouldnt that risk leaking personal info throughout the recording?

5. Is there anything in particular I should know?

I’ve been trying to follow the whole BIP-110 situation, but I’m struggling to separate the technical issues from the politics and personalities involved.

But now that the fork has happened and appears to have failed to gain meaningful hashpower, I’m seeing BIP-110 supporters saying that the current BTC chain is “corrupt” or no longer the real Bitcoin, while some people are essentially treating the BIP-110 chain as Bitcoin. At the same time, there are plenty of people who are very happy with how things turned out and strongly oppose Luke Dashjr and the whole BIP-110 approach.

What I’m particularly interested in is the technical** **side, rather than the personalities. Why did it fail to gain enough miner support? How should we think about the argument that the existing BTC chain has become centralised?

So the whole "MCGA" thing (yes that ticker was literally short for make cro great again) just collapsed over the weekend. Cryptocom, DJT, and a company called Yorkville killed the plan to build a multi billion dollar CRO treasury company. It was supposed to be the first and largest publicly traded CRO treasury, marketed as a huge vote of confidence in the token.

They'd already switched the ticker from YORK to MCGA in anticipation, which, in hindsight, is a wild flex when the deal wasn't even locked in yet. Marszalek was on record saying this vehicle would become the world's largest CRO holder, that it would somehow exceed CRO's own market cap, and that they'd hold "forever." None of that happened. They scrapped it over the weekend citing "prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities," which is corporate speak for it wasn't working.

CRO slid under $0.05 on the news, lowest since October 2023. Down something like 48% YTD and 70-71% over the past year, depending on which figure you use, 95% below the November 2021 peak. They also killed a second linked deal where Cryptocom was going to service ETFs for Yorkville.

Anyone else think these DAT/treasury plays are mostly just a mechanism to create artificial demand and prop up the token price without any organic use case behind them? Every time one of these falls apart, the underlying token just falls off a cliff because the whole thesis was "a company will buy and hold a bunch of this" rather than actual utility or adoption. Strategy has sold 6,948 BTC in 2026, raising approximately $431.8 million through its Bitcoin monetization program.

At first glance, this may seem bearish. However, the company stated that the sales are part of its treasury and liquidity management strategy rather than a complete change in its long-term Bitcoin approach.

This is an important reminder that corporate treasury decisions are often driven by liquidity needs, financing plans, and balance sheet management—not just market sentiment.

Instead of focusing only on the sale, it may be more useful to ask why the company sold and whether its overall Bitcoin strategy has actually changed.

Putin signed Federal Law 282-FZ, "On Digital Currencies and Digital Rights," on August 4. Core provisions go live September 1. The state that spent a decade calling Bitcoin a threat just built a licensed market around it.

What it actually does:

• Retail gets a cage. Non-qualified investors are capped at 300,000 rubles a year, about $3,700, per licensed intermediary, and only in coins regulators designate as liquid. Qualified investors have no cap.
• Exchanges get a registry. State registry supervised by the Bank of Russia, 15M rubles minimum equity, mandatory SRO membership.
• Banks become enforcement. Banks must block transfers when they suspect an unregistered provider is involved.
• Domestic payments stay banned. The carve-out is cross-border trade settlement, which is the actual point given SWIFT exclusion.
• The strange one: holders get judicial protection regardless of whether the assets were ever declared.

Read the last two together and you get the thesis. Moscow is not liberalizing. It is trading legal recognition for visibility. Come out of the shadows, get real property rights, and your flows route through intermediaries the state supervises and banks are obligated to police. Recognition and surveillance arriving as a package deal is the pattern, and it is not just Russia.

I got tired of opening five different apps to figure out what I'm actually worth, so I built a small tool that merges wallets and exchange accounts into one net worth number. Been using it myself for a while and finally cleaned it up enough to let other people poke at it.

What it does:

• Paste a public wallet address, it checks balances across 20+ chains (ETH, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB, Avalanche, Solana, and more)

Not trying to sell anything, genuinely just want more eyes on it before I put more time into the roadmap. Happy to answer questions about how it works or why I made the calls I did.

On April 18, attackers exploited a weakness in Kelp's LayerZero bridge and minted roughly $293M of unbacked rsETH. Rather than just cashing out, they dumped the fake rsETH straight into Aave as collateral and borrowed real assets against it.

Aave responded by freezing deposits and withdrawals of rsETH. But this didn't contain the damage, it instead spread the contagion. rsETH depositors realized that even with their own funds frozen, they could still use that same collateral to borrow unaffected assets like USDT and USDC. So they did exactly that, in their minds with rsETH potentially going to 0, any recourse they could get was worth it, so they borrowed whatever stablecoin they could, with no intention of ever reclaiming back their collateral. Stablecoin utilization on Aave then shot up to 100%, and yields spiked above 10%, even though stablecoins had zero exposure to the actual exploit.

The situation eventually subsided and utilization normalized. But it exposed something uncomfortable about pooled lending design generally: contagion isn't contained to the affected asset. Any asset sharing a liquidity pool with a compromised one can get dragged into a liquidity crunch, even if it has nothing to do with the exploit itself.

That's the part that seems to have actually done the lasting damage. Users saw that their funds could be affected by risk they had no direct exposure to, and that fear triggered a broader exodus from Aave, and DeFi lending more generally, that a simple freeze couldn't undo.

Aave’s TVL in numbers:

• April 17 (day before the exploit): $25.93B
• April 19 (two days after): $21.80B
• July 21 (three months later): $14.40B

Aave lost over $11.5B in TVL, a 44.5% decline from pre-hack levels. The immediate 2-day fall is clearly hack-driven. What's more alarming is that it didn't stop there, TVL kept sliding for months instead of finding a bottom, this is likely the structural damage. Worth being upfront that this stretch also overlapped with a broader crypto downturn, so not all of that continued bleed can be pinned on Kelp specifically. But the fact that Aave never even stabilized, let alone recovered, four months out is notable regardless of how much is directly attributable.

Context on timing: the Kelp exploit also happened just 17 days after a separate $295M hack on Drift Trade (April 1), also allegedly linked to North Korean state hackers. Between the two, April alone accounted for $644.9M in hack losses, more than half of everything lost to hacks across the first seven months of 2026.

The uncomfortable part for lending protocols broadly: this attack vector, mint fake wrapped or liquid-staking tokens, deposit as collateral, borrow real assets, doesn't require finding a bug in the lending protocol at all. It only requires a bug somewhere upstream in whatever bridge or minting mechanism issues the collateral asset. Aave's contracts did exactly what they were designed to do, and it still took what looks like a permanent TVL hit because of a design property (shared liquidity pools) rather than a code flaw.

After this incident with Cold Card I'm now fully convinced that this forum is generally awful for anything crypto related.

That stupid wallet was shilled all over the place on this forum while everyone was telling those to ditch Ledger for Cold Card. Cold Card, a wallet not even in the top 10, was made by a company with only 5 employees that's been around for roughly as long as Ledger with only 6 figures in 1st. round funding, vs. hundreds of millions with Ledger over several rounds. Ledger has an entire team dedicated to security testing, DonJon, and has even tested Trezor wallets and collaborated with that company to help them bolster their security. These people also say how Ledger is "closed source" when it's in fact 95% open source. Despite these variables, the trolls on here were still promoting some stupid little wallet lol when there were plenty of others to choose from that were clearly from much better companies that have/had the resources to run security tests, offer bug bounties, etc.

You also have a lot of trolls on here that have gone around calling for these insane price targets for the bear market lows, like BTC going to 30k or ETH below 1k. It's very likely we've already hit the low for this bear market OR are very close. Those following these bears too closely will miss the bottom all together.

Then it also seems like a lot of posters from "ButtCoin" also seem to come over to here talking about how BTC has lost it's vibe and that no one cares about it anymore. Meanwhile, this is the opportunity to be accumulating and on par with buying BTC at 20k in 2022 and in the 3k range in late 2018.

Overall, much of the advice on here is terrible and it seems like there aren't many that are here to offer sound advice and input in what is being discussed. This forum has probably resulted in many people making a lot of mistakes or possibly even losing a lot of funds, such as with the suggestion to use Cold Card. I still can't really tell if they are just clueless idiots or intentionally on here to troll and cause harm, it seems like it's a bit of both.

Back in 2021 I used to watch Crypto Banter and other Crypto shows I cant remember. The only other one I remember is Alex Becker who was at least funny and self deprecating about the fact he was probably gonna lose money.

Ran Neur and Crypto Banter was my main go to guy for financial advice on crypto in those heady 2021 days and actually he did predict some alt coin rises. Of course, a lot of the predictions didnt come off, not least about the start decline crypto took in 2021 and from which, if everyone is honest, it has never really recovered.

Over the last few years, Bitcoin has risen and fallen but is doing steady. but every other coin has just died, fading away or is nowhere. near their ALT. There is no movement, no new narratives, no new interest no alt coins rising, certainly none with any interesting or plausible use case.

So to save myself from actually watching these shows.... what do they talk about? They cannot be shilling coins, because they must know that whatever coin it is will be down within a week and will die off. Does anyone actually watch these shows anymore? Why?

However, I saved and backed up the entire Daedalus application directory from that time, including:

The secret.key file

acid database files / application state

Full log history and configuration files

Now, 6-7 years later, I'm reaching out to see if the community or developers have built any tools, recovery scripts, or methods to decrypt or extract the private key from a Byron-era secret.key file (or if brute-forcing the spending password via the encrypted file is possible today).

Has anyone successfully recovered funds from a similar legacy file structure, or is there any known open-source tool built by IOG/community devs for this exact scenario?

We've had a lot of different bull narratives over the years. Every bull cycle has had its main drivers to help push a "this time we're really gonna make some serious money".

Sure, narrative isn't everything. Cycles seemed to have been the main self fulfilling driving force.

But you still need a narrative for people who buy in so they can rationalize that they made a smart investment choice.

Something that will still make it make sense. Something they can tell their colleagues at the coffee machine without being too much laughed at, or just use to convince themselves that they aren't just blindly gambling.

But it would probably have to be a bigger narrative than ETFs and a crypto President. Since neither of those really produced that big of a bang in the last bull cycle. We experienced the weakest and most disapointing bull cycle. It's gonna make it harder to get people excited about the next one.

I'm not very knowledgeable about crypto but I've been enough active to know that there has been a major attack at coldcards wallets due to the hacker guessing the "24 word passwords" correctly? (at least thats how chatgpt explained it to me)

How do i prevent this from possibly happening? Can you even do it? I've been buying on kraken and i know that guessing a password like that is hard but can you make sure that no one guesses your password and if they do can you somehow still prevent access to the coins?

The most important question about tokenized stocks is not whether they trade 24/7. It is which record controls ownership when the blockchain and the transfer agent are temporarily out of sync.

The SEC's January 2026 statement says tokenized securities can be issuer sponsored or created by unaffiliated third parties, and the rights can differ by structure. A May 2026 JPMorgan fund filing goes further. It says a token balance may transfer onchain before the transfer agent updates the Investor Register. Until that process finishes, the recipient is not yet the legal owner, and the transfer may still be rejected.

That creates a gap between holding a token and having the legal rights attached to the underlying security.

Before buying a tokenized stock, I would want the product page to answer five things.

Who maintains the official ownership record?

Can wallet to wallet transfers be rejected after the token moves?

When do dividends and voting rights switch?

What happens if the blockchain and investor register disagree?

Can the token be redeemed directly, or only through an approved intermediary?

I’m wondering how funding rates can differ so drastically between platforms.

Apart from the fact that longs pay shorts on Bitget while it’s the other way around on OKX, the difference between the funding rates is huge.
Can anyone explain what causes such a massive difference?

One thing I think a lot of newer traders underestimate is how much exchange fees can eat into returns over time.

It's easy to focus on the trading strategy, entry and exit, or finding the next coin, while ignoring the cost of actually making those trades.

There are several things I look at when comparing an exchange:

• Maker vs. taker fees
• Bid/ask spread
• Deposit and withdrawal fees
• Spot vs. futures costs
• Whether there are discounts for using an exchange's native token
• Liquidity, because a low advertised fee doesn't mean much if the spread is terrible

I'm also increasingly skeptical of the phrase "zero-fee trading." A platform can advertise 0% commission while making money through the spread or other charges.

For active traders, even a small difference in fees can add up over dozens or hundreds of trades.

How do you compare exchanges before choosing one?

Do you mainly look at the advertised trading fee, or do you also check spreads, withdrawal costs, and liquidity?

Until this day I only invested in bitcoin when it comes to crypto - I do have some ETH but let’s say 98% BTC

TL;DR: very new to memecoin trading. losing a ton and missing out on quite a lot. need advice from experienced/"profitable" traders on how they choose which coins to put money in, when to exit, whether its worth it and how they deal with losses, dealing with fomo, etc. (I don't need any sarcasm or people telling me not to do it and how unlikely it is to actually make decent money i'd honestly appreciate any positivity because ive seen all the bad things people have to say about memecoins lol because i don't think im gonna stop so please no point in negative comments)

I started messing around with memecoins about a week ago and so far ive only really had a lot of losses. im starting off with small amounts of money because im a bit scared to do more and also curently dont really have the funds to lose THAT much? like i think of it as spending takeout money because i blow a lot on food.

everytime i lose money i lose a lot and the few times i do exit with a profit its like barely anything. What annoys me the most is when i exit early the coin blows up and when i hold the coin bottoms like crazy like its just a stream of bad luck following me </3. I just get this crazy fomo and sometimes while a coin is at its peak i think itll grow more so i put more money in it just to end up as exit liquidity..

For example, im sure u guys know of toad coin which blew up like a day ago. I was actually in the OG which TOAD vamped. I put a fair amount of money (nothing crazy ofc) and i saw when it got vamped people started selling the OG a ton and buying into the vamp that slingor released. i honestly just held because i though they'd circle back to the OG and the vamp might rug (also because i thought if i made the switch id miss out on potential OG profits and lose on the vamp..). The OG basically bottomed in like 3 days and the vamp hit like 10mill?? i regret not putting some money in when it was like at 800k because i saw it all happen (ive gotta be so unlucky).

Like i look at narratives i have faith, hold, then bottom and its just i don;t know if im doing it right lol.

I already know the basic pieces of advcie everyone says "don't risk money u cant afford to lose!! its high risk its hard to get into blah blah" i want some genuinely positive (at least not passive aggressive) advice from people who are experienced/been in this in the long run enough to at least have +ve PnL or mostly +ve.

I’m just in a pinch till Thursday and need to satisfy the trading itch

As someone who hasn’t been here for very many cycles, I wonder whether there will be another one in 3 years. Genuine question, how come if everyone is expecting it will peak again, how will anyone be able to sell at peak and withdraw anything? I know everyone hates the rookies, but i’d appreciate a genuine answer. I guess the gist of my question is, had crypto become old news, now that more than ever people invest in it?

I've been looking at Chainflip and THORChain for cross chain swaps and I'm trying to understand the actual differences between them.

They seem pretty similar and far I saw, ThorSwap has Chainflip integrated, but with a fee on the top of it, So I'm wondering what is worth using, knowing thorswap adds a fee on chainflip's own routes, and chainflip seems ok but is truly expensive, if i'm right, why is thorswap even so famous for? A couple weeks ago, I received some hype from a financial newsletter I follow about the NatGold launch on Kraken. I created an account, verified it, and deposited my funds in anticipation of a launch. The launch never happened and no information was given as to why.

I want to withdraw my funds, not needing them on the exchange anymore, and the withdrawal simply didn’t happen. I forget the exact timeline, but I contacted Support after a week or two, and then my account was inexplicably canceled.

It has been weeks minimum, maybe over a month, and I still do not have any information as to why am I withdrawal has not processed. And Support is not answering.

I’m seeing all kinds of similar complaints in KrakenSupport sub-Reddit. Something is going on.

I recently exported the private key for my Robinhood Chain wallet from the Fomo trading app, which I believe uses Privy for its wallet infrastructure, and imported the wallet into MetaMask.

I then sent ETH from another MetaMask wallet to Robinhood, converted it to ETH on Robinhood Chain, and sent that ETH to the wallet I had imported from Fomo into MetaMask. However, when the transaction arrived, I received WETH instead of native ETH.

I tried unwrapping the WETH to ETH on Robinhood Chain. For a few seconds, I could see the native ETH balance in my wallet, but it then appeared to automatically convert back into WETH.

No matter what I try, any ETH in this wallet seems to automatically get wrapped into WETH. Does anyone know why this might be happening or what I’m doing wrong?

Hello! I would like to buy about $200 worth of crypto next Friday. But I don't know which one is worth it. Which one do you recommend?

Stripe's crypto onramp handles KYC for the fiat-to-crypto purchase itself. Their website says the company acts as the merchant of record, handling regulatory requirements and compliance.

It looks like people can create exchanges in the USA with implementing onramp, but where I think the hiccup would come from is holding a master wallet and generating wallets for customers to send and receive from, is consider custody. My understanding is that custodying customer funds generally makes you a money transmitter in the US, which means FinCEN registration plus state-by-state licensing. I don't think the onramp gets any company out of that. I could be wrong though as I am not a lawyer and don't have experience in this market.

The only creative way to sidestep the custody issue entirely: a non-custodial front end on top of a licensed exchange's API.

Is what I stated above correct? Am I missing something here? As I am just surprised people have not taken advantage of the onramp.

Most wallet security checklists start with where the seed phrase is stored. That matters, but a clean backup does not show who or what can still move funds.

A useful permission audit should ask which token allowances remain unlimited, which WalletConnect sessions are active, which exchange API keys can trade or withdraw, which smart accounts still have delegates, which multisig signers remain valid, and which old devices can approve a transaction.

Permissions age silently. A protocol you trusted two years ago may have changed contracts, ownership or maintenance status. Nothing needs to happen today for that forgotten approval to become tomorrow’s attack surface.

Wallets should provide one revocation screen ordered by potential loss. An unlimited approval with no active deposit is more useful to see than a contract address and creation date.

Once or twice a year, I would rather spend twenty minutes revoking old access and reauthorizing the few apps I still use than assume inactivity means safety.

A couple of years ago I was pretty focused on building a Bitcoin position.

My goal was to get to 0.1 BTC and once I finally got there it almost felt like a switch flipped.

Instead of feeling like I needed more Bitcoin, I actually found myself putting most of my monthly investing into index funds instead. Not because I've lost conviction, but because my overall portfolio feels a bit more balanced that way.

I've noticed something similar with my precious metals too. Once an allocation gets to a point I'm happy with, I'm much more comfortable just letting it do its thing while I build up other areas.

Curious if anyone else has found their investing naturally evolves like that, or if you're still putting most of your monthly investing into Bitcoin.

I'll try and keep this simple and avoid using difficult words.

To generate your own seed phrase, you're good to go even with just rolling some dice, mix them up with a coin flip, or even use a deck of cards.

But the real question is, how do we get the 24th word? There are tools out there that lets you type it on any machine, preferably offline, or even better: permanently air-gapped machine.

What if you don't have an air-gapped machine? There are ways to do it like using a Seed Signer.

But you can (if you're into it) do it manually too. Here's how:

Well, after you get the 23 words, there are 8 valid choices for the final word (8 out of the 2048 BIP39 list). They are distributed so there's exactly one valid word, in every 256-word range. In other words:

• There's only 1 valid word between 1 (abandon) and 256 (cable)
• There's only 1 valid word between 257 (cactus) and 512 (divide)
• There's only 1 valid word between 513 (divorce) and 768 (garment)
• There's only 1 valid word between 769 (gain) and 1024 (lend)

.. so on and on. You get the gist.

Whatever method you pick, you'll want to make sure the 24th word isn't selected manually. Generate it randomly just like the previous 23 words, and use the result as a starting point.

Once you get the 24th word (I'll use "verify" as an example), here are the steps to follow, in simpler terms:

1. The word "verify" is number 1942 on the BIP39 word list
2. Subtract 1 from 1942 to get its 0-based index (counting starts from 0). You'll get 1941
3. Convert this number to an 11-bit binary. You'll get 111 1001 0101
4. Take the first 3 bits (in this case, 111), discard the remaining 8 bits, and append 8 zeroes so it becomes 111 0000 0000
5. Convert this number back to decimal. You'll get 1792
6. Your 24th word checksum can be found from word 1793 to 2048.

Sure, you can just pick any 256-word range (e.g. 1025-1280), but the whole point of generating your own seed is to make it truly random without any human interaction/intervention.

Is trying brute forcing through 256 words a pain? Yes, though probably much less so than calculating your own sha256 checksum manually with pen and paper. This is especially true, if you're using hardware wallets that don't allow you to edit a specific word. (e.g. on Ledger, if the 24-word phrase is invalid, you'll have to input it again from word 1).

But hey, you might get lucky and find the right 24th word on your 10th attempt. Or on your 200th ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I suggest printing out the BIP39 word list and crossing them one by one as you try to find the right checksum.

Many would assume the "great, free coins" -mentality here, but I want to take more cautious approach, and give a fair warning. It is ofc up to you then, to do whatever you want with this info.

The problem here is, that this fork (BTC->eCash) opens a POSSIBILITY of a loss of your Bitcoin, if you are not careful.

The biggest concern is the replay risk, which, if not properly protected in the implementation, allows you to copy the eCash transaction to BTC transaction. At least in the early stages, this could mean that BTC network accepts the transaction valid, and transfers your BTC to the same address you sent the eCash.

If there are no guardrails on this, we will see scams on this like "Sell me your eCash. I'll buy them for x BTC." And without the guardrails, *buff*, your Bitcoins are stolen.

The difference in the previous main forks (eg. BTC->BCH or ETH->ETC) is, that those forks had different rules, and even if you copied the transaction to the source chain, it would not go through.

I have NOT found any clear indications wether those guardrails are in place. At least there are posts and rumors that say that they are not in place. So I urge you to make sure, before acting.

TLDR:
Check if there are protections in place for replay attack on the eCash implementation before doing anything with your possible forked coins. If in doubt, do nothing. The fork itself won't steal your BTC.

Please no roasting or anything but a while back I invested in CRO and did the lockup for the card and thankfully got in and out net positive barely. Now I have around $700 in staking and earnings in CRO in the crypto.com app and want to have it in bitcoin while the rest of my bitcoin is on Robinhood(again no roasting I don’t mind it and don’t care). Would it be better to swap it for btc then transfer it or sell it for usd take it to my bank and then deposit into Robinhood and buy?

In the past everyone has been obsessed with 'get-rich quick' and 'what return will i make'.

If we're being honest, the major driver behind the industry has been 'greed', and it shows. Most projects have delivered nothing of real world benefit, since they weren't driven by it (or loosely at best).

Now that is starting to be accepted, reluctantly, by the community. Now is the time for people to start really looking for projects that have a genuine plan to benefit society, which to me has always been the point of Crypto.

My favourite use-case is that tokens allow us to 'vote with our wallets'. If projects should exist because they benefit society in a way you want to see more of, you can use it instead of Fiat via a crypto credit card and hot-swapping, making the project grow and do more of that good thing.

As opposed to Fiat money which in today's world, appears to fuel greed and a reduction of quality the closer it gets to everything. It is not at all efficient in supporting and growing things which actually improve life quality for our shared societies.

(You could argue the philosophy it runs on infecting crypto is what fuelled the sillyness we've been through, instead of crypto's philosophy replacing it).

If that becomes a philosophical switch back to the roots of crypto before everyone got profit obsessed, what that would mean for 'greedy people' is that they'll be looking to invest in the projects which have the greatest impact for good on society and our world, as those are where people are putting/storing their money. A far better system than we live under today.

For me now is the most exciting time in crypto.

I built a project 5 years back, and never launched it, as every time i went anywhere near crypto-events to look for support, i met wall-to-wall scammers who wanted to use my project to steal your money.. so i got the 'ick', called off the launch and stuck it up on the shelf.

Anyone else feeling that way?

I've been wondering this lately.

A lot of people in crypto talk about financial freedom, but almost everyone I know still pays with their bank card every day.

Is it because:

• Spending crypto feels like selling an investment?
• Tax implications?
• Bad UX?
• KYC?
• Existing crypto cards just aren't good enough?

I'm asking because I work on a crypto payments product, and it's been interesting to see how different people's answers are. Sometimes we think the problem is onboarding, while users say they simply don't trust the providers.

So I'm curious:

If someone built the "perfect" crypto payment card, what would it need for you to actually use it instead of your bank card?

I lost my butt in this exchange, and curious who else did ?
I feel like it was a total setup and scam for the rich (top 10) holders to get richer.
Obviously it’s my own fault for not understanding the full dynamics of the coin, or the fact that it even had to pass through legislation for it to be worth something.

Anyway, I was curious of other’s perspective and experience with this particular project.

When I started out, I picked purely on trading fees. Lowest cost per trade, done, didn't think twice about it. Looking back that was kind of a dumb way to choose.

What I've noticed since is that fees are the thing you compare before you sign up, but usability is what decides whether you actually stick around. If the app is confusing or KYC feels like doing your taxes, people will get the heck out. It doesn't matter how cheap the trades were. I've seen people eat a slightly worse fee structure just because onboarding didn't make them want to throw their phone.

That being said, I'm still pretty new to this (humanities student, bear with me), so I might be missing the bigger picture. Things like liquidity/spreads or withdrawal reliability seem like they'd matter way more once you're actually moving real money around, stuff you wouldn't notice until it burns you once.

So genuinely asking people who've been doing this longer: once you're past the "which app doesn't suck to use" stage, what's the thing that actually separates a good exchange from a bad one? Liquidity, withdrawal reliability, compliance, or something else entirely?

For about 10 years now the CFTC and SEC have held that bitcoin is not offered and sold as a security, meaning it's largely unregulated under federal law. The CLARITY Act doesn't much change that and if anything could be argued to increase regulations around bitcoin trading.

One might argue that potential mass adoption hypothetically driven by the CLARITY Act's passage would boost bitcoin values. However bitcoin isn't much used in the provision of services in crypto markets - it's largely a buy and hold asset. And there's not much if any layer two that relies on its chain. In many ways it's its own market segregated from the rest of crypto.

Curious if others have different thoughts.

Just lol at the trolls coming out of the woodwork on here doubling down on the idea that Cold Card was a reputable company and that there were no signs of issues. Then it comes out that they were recommending this wallet to other posters on here and boom, look what happened. That wallet was shilled all over the place on this forum, a wallet that wasn't even in the top 10. None of this would have happened if these people had just stuck with the basic top wallets, and to top it off a Cold Card was expensive AF compared to the others. Are the other wallets perfect, hell no.

To all of you who recommended this garbage wallet, stop posting about crypto and just mind your own damn business, it's obvious you aren't to be taken seriously.

If you've been following the Coldcard mess, a firmware bug weakened how some devices generated seed phrases, and attackers have been brute-forcing them and sweeping wallets.

Absolutely brutal.

Making this post because if you got caught in it (or any hack or theft really), there's a tax angle most people don't think about while they're still in the gut-punch phase. Won't bring the coins back, but it's still worth knowing.

The basic rule: the ATO lets you claim a capital loss on crypto that's actually gone, if you can prove you owned it and it's irrecoverable. That offsets your capital gains, and anything left over carries forward. It won't reduce normal income, only gains.

For a theft like this, evidence is everything. Acquisition records, the wallet addresses, the on-chain trail showing the funds swept out, and a police report. The stronger the paper trail, the cleaner the claim.

A few things to keep in mind however:

Exchange collapses (FTX, Celsius type). You can't claim the day it enters administration. It crystallises when administration finalises, based on what you actually get back. Lots of people try to claim too early.

Worthless tokens you still hold. A coin down 99% but still in your wallet isn't a loss yet, paper losses don't count. If it's still tradeable, selling it even for cents locks in the loss (especially for the pumpfun users ????)

And if you get any compensation later, you reduce the loss by that amount.

If you got hit by the Coldcard thing, might be best to sort the new wallet and your security first, obviously. The tax bit can wait until the dust settles, just don't forget it exists because it does.

Everyone on here has obviously heard about the Cold Card hack, where the seed generation with their wallets being incredibly weak and predictable. I've also been seeing some things that suggest the company was aware of this "bug" years ago but yet did nothing about it. It's also interesting to me that it was so heavily shilled/marketed here on reddit.

With this out of the way, here's what I'm seeing with this event.

From what I've seen with a recent update, there were almost 5k wallets drained with a total value over $100m. These people otherwise did everything right but because of this garbage wallet that they used they had their funds essentially vanish. There were even some with short passphrases utilizing a couple words that also were victims of this as well, so people that would have taken some extra steps to try to protect themselves. While this is incredibly unfortunate for these individuals, the panic/freakout over self custody I'm seeing right now is severely overblown.

People are starting to question whether single sig wallets are sufficient and if they should use a passphrase, multi sig, etc. I also can see this event being taken by the media and tradfi institutions and used as a tactic to scare people from utilizing self custody and instead moving to ETFs and other BTC/crypto products. I understand the fear and uncertainty, but there's something that many on here seem to be missing.

As mentioned, this Cold Card hack drained approximately 5,000 wallets. Meanwhile, there are over 22 million BTC addresses with $100+ and 10.4 million with $1,000+. You had this garbage wallet that drained a number of addresses that is MINISCULE compared to the total number of addresses with $100+ worth of BTC in self custody. 1% of 22 million wallet with $100+ in BTC is 220k addresses, so this hack represents approximately 0.02% of these addresses, 1 out of 5000.

Instead of buying from one of the top companies that have sold millions of units (Ledger, Trezor, Tangem, etc.) these people bought some basically no name wallet that ended up having major flaws related to security. A Cold Card was also $250+ from what I saw, when you could have bought a basic Ledger or Trezor model for around $60 or so. The company according to the page I linked below also has a whooping 5 employees as of June of this year lol, to put this into perspective Ledger has over 800 and Trezor with over 200.

You are more likely to lose your crypto wealth/assets through user error when setting up and/or losing your seeds. If you are concerned about security, consider adding a strong passphrase to your primary seeds.

IF something like this had happened to one of the big cold wallet companies though, the ramifications for the broader crypto space would be enormous. With this said, I do NOT think that the general public will be utilizing self custody as we get into the 2030s and beyond, they'll primarily be boarded onto the crypto train through tradfi institutions.

I was just wondering whether it's still worth trading, especially meme coins. Is there still any point in speculating on them, or has AI completely changed the game?

TL;DR - you can earn additional yield in the form of gacha boxes on Katana, and it averages to an extra ~1% on stablecoins and 1.5% on KAT, just for using the same platforms most katana users already use. So Krates are now part of Katana Quests. Katana quests are a gamified way to earn additional KAT (or USDC for top prizes) by actively participating in defi activities on Katana. Essentially, it's a bonus layer sitting on top of yield you're already earning.

I have been posting posting about and been farming Katana for a while as I find the yields and risk/reward aspect of the opportunities on the chain to be among the best in defi. Krates just make it better.

The setup: XP is earned by doing normal DeFi on Katana, staking KAT for vKAT or avKAT, supplying to vaults, borrowing on morpho, LPing via Charm, and trading. XP accrues daily per dollar deployed. Different XP for different activities.

XP has two uses. In July and every month going forward, unused XP will be used in a raffle. Currently the raffle total prize pool is $15000. The other use is to redeem 350,000 XP for a Krate & open it for an instant reward. Any leftover krate XP gets entered into the raffle & XP resets monthly.

Ok, that's the boring stuff. How does it actually look like when deploying capital, just to calculate some potential increase in returns.

Personally, I only supply to vaults, borrow a little bit, and hold vKAT/avKAT. Here's the baseline math behind $1000 deployed with either USDC/USDT and avKAT. This is the baseline as you can use avKAT as collateral to borrow stables then deploy the stables to loop further, which I do, but that's for another post. This is pure krate return, so you're earning on top of the yield of the vaults.

Supplying USDC on Morpho pays 3 XP per dollar per day, so $1,000 over 30 days is 90,000 XP. Holding avKAT pays 5 XP per dollar per day, so you earn 150,000 XP a month. Next, the Krate costs 350,000 XP & the reward pool this epoch has these published odds:

• Common (69.95%): 277 avKAT and min. 85,000 XP
• Uncommon (25%): 369 avKAT and min. 130,000 XP
• Rare (5%): min. 1,107 avKAT and min. 170,000 XP
• Super Rare (0.05%): 45,421 avKAT or 1,000 in stablecoin

Run the average avKAT across those odds:

• 0.6995 × 277 = 193.8 avKAT
• 0.25 × 369 = 92.3 avKAT
• 0.05 × 1,107 = 55.4 avKAT
• 0.0005 × 45,421 = 22.7 avKAT
• Total: ~364 avKAT per Krate on average.

Since Krates also refund XP, you get about 100,000 back per Krate, or 28.7% of the cost. Loop that refund into more Krates & your XP stretches about 1.4x, so each XP becomes roughly 0.00146 avKAT.

Currently, 1 avKAT = ~1.30 KAT (though this continues to compound every 2 weeks). At KAT ~$0.0045, that's ~$0.0058 per avKAT.

Now the month, per $1,000:

• USDC supply: 90,000 XP -> ~131 avKAT -> ~$0.77. On $1,000 that's about 7.7 bps a month, ~0.9% a year, from the Krate layer alone.
• avKAT: 150,000 XP -> ~219 avKAT -> ~$1.28. About 12.8 bps a month, ~1.5% a year.

So basically, you're earning an extra 1% APY on your stables and 1.5% APY on your KAT for using the same protocols you already were using.

Want more XP on the same capital? Hold avKAT: 31.98% APY & 5 XP per dollar per day, so 5,000 XP/day on $1,000. vKAT shows 47.25% APY at the same 5 XP/$. The KAT LP pools on Charm pay the top rate, 6 XP per dollar per day. Same principle every time: pick the position for its yield, & the XP tags along.

What does the XP turn into? 350,000 XP redeems for one Krate. Every Krate pays out, there are no

I'm not the biggest trader, especially with perps, but traders can feast on this as well. Perp volume pays 1.5 XP per dollar of volume, but if you are leverage trading this creates bonus volume on the same dollar of collateral. A small stack can push a lot of volume, so your dollar goes further on XP than it does sitting in a supply position, at higher risk. If you're a trader, that's the high-octane path.

Though I don't trade, I'm a fan of how Katana aligns with their users. Katana owns its perp venue so the fees are Katana's revenue & they route that revenue back to users as XP & rewards. The more you use their perps, the more they can pay you, because they capture the value instead of leaking it to a third party. The platform earns & it hands a cut back to the people generating the revenue.

So do the math for your own size & risk tolerance. If you're like me & you'd rather earn yield with less drama, sit in Morpho supply or avKAT & let the XP stack on top. If you're a trader, perps stretch your dollar further on XP & feed the venue that funds the whole thing. Either way you're paid twice: the yield on your capital, & the XP that becomes avKAT on top.

I’ve become interested in OnRe’s On Chain Yield Coin, ONYC. It gets a steady 10-12% APY from reinsurance underwriting. It can be looped/leveraged on Kamino by borrowing USDC/USDG against it.

Does anybody use this strategy or anything like it for RWA? I’m interesting in using DeFi to have a tiny sleeve of my portfolio achieve a 10% CAGR. Less than 1% though of course.

What additional risks would I be taking? Could it be worth it to loop, or would it be better to just hold the tokens outright?

What other RWA do you guys use in DeFi to get better than average returns? I’m not the most interested in holding majors, I don’t personally believe in the price of BTC or ETH going up.

But I think DeFi is really fascinating and probably had some good opportunities? I just don’t know what I’d personally do to pursue it, safely of course.

I would just be devastated to be drained or hacked somehow. I know these protocols can get hacked and that doesn’t sit right with me. I’d rather have most of my money in safer ETFs with actual insurance.

I’m thinking about building a gimmick website as a kind of interactive explainer about cryptocurrency security. Here’s the concept:

1 - User clicks a button to generate a random 12-word BIP39 seed phrase
2 - The site derives wallet addresses from that phrase
3 - It checks if those addresses have any balance (spoiler: they won’t)
4 - User can click “next” to get a new random phrase and check again

The idea is to show visually how astronomically unlikely it is to randomly generate a wallet that already has funds - like a testament to how secure seed phrases are.

I used to think buying crypto instantly with a debit/credit card was the easiest option... until I realized how much money was disappearing through hidden spreads and payment fees.

After comparing different methods, here's what stood out:

• Spot trading is usually much cheaper than using the "Instant Buy" button.
• Bank transfers often cost far less than credit cards.
• P2P marketplaces can be great if you're careful and only trade with verified merchants.
• Network withdrawal fees matter just as much as trading fees.
• Many "zero-fee" platforms still hide costs through wider spreads.

I also noticed that buying USDT first and then trading on the spot market can sometimes be more cost-effective than buying BTC or ETH directly.

I've tried paying with crypto a few times, and the biggest challenge wasn't the payment itself, it was everything before it. Switching between apps, dealing with fees, and making sure I wasn't sending to the wrong address made the whole process feel more complicated than it should be.

Better cryptocurrency payment usability and more user friendly crypto wallets would probably make a huge difference, especially for people new to cryptocurrency for beginners.

As you may have seen, there will be some new regulations in Vietnam which fine people for trading on unlicensed platforms after September 1st. At the moment, no platform has been licensed or provided for us to transfer our assets to.

I have my assets on Binance. If I sold now, I’d take a pretty huge loss due to the market being so low. I had intended to hold until I saw this news. But now I’m not sure if p2p will be allowed after September 1st, allowing me to sell my assets.

Holy shit, last night I opened my ledger wallet app on my Mac M3 for the first time in 3-6 months.

Immediately, it asked me for a 24-word recovery phrase. I knew something was wrong so I had AI scan the applications on my computer and found out it was a completely fraudulent app!

I originally had the real app and somehow, it was replaced with a malicious clone app without my knowledge!

All the news platforms are cheering for a market rally, saying it hit new highs and is going to go even further, but there are so many warning signs.

1. Trump just changed his own narrative. Earlier he said there would be a deal with Iran on Wednesday. Now he's saying it will happen in 48 hours.
2. The US stockpile of missiles is almost used up. That could give Iran the upper hand and make them see the US as being in a weaker position. To show they have the upper hand, they could still close the Strait of Hormuz and refuse to make a deal.
3. Iran has continuously said there will be no deal if Trump keeps threatening them, which he did again just a few minutes ago.
4. Most of the companies driving this rally have something to do with the AI boom, and I think that market has become a bubble that's eventually going to crash hard.

Don't put all your money into this. Maybe only invest what you can afford to lose, but be careful and don't blindly trust Trump.

One thing I’ve noticed over the last few years is that almost every protocol asks the same question:
“How do we reward our community?”

The answer has almost always been the same:

Print more tokens.

Whether it’s liquidity mining, staking emissions, or farming incentives, many reward systems rely on creating new supply. That can attract users quickly, but it also introduces inflation and often isn’t sustainable unless the protocol keeps growing fast enough to offset it.

That got me thinking about a different question.
What if rewards came from actual economic activity instead of inflation?
That’s the idea behind Flywheel Protocol.

What is Flywheel?
Flywheel is an on-chain distribution protocol.
It isn’t designed to be another token.
It isn’t even designed around one specific project.
Instead, it’s infrastructure that allows a project to define how value flows back to its community.

Think of Flywheel as a programmable distribution engine.
Revenue comes in from whatever sources a project chooses.

The protocol accounts for it transparently.
Then it distributes that value according to rules the project configures.

How does Bullion work?
Users deposit Bullion into a shared pool.
Every deposit receives a weight based on:
The amount deposited
The epoch selected
Longer epochs receive higher weighting.
During each reward period, protocol revenue is distributed proportionally according to each participant’s weighted share of the pool.
If your position represents 5% of the total weighted pool, you receive approximately 5% of the revenue allocated for that distribution period.
No emissions.
No newly printed reward tokens.
Just proportional distribution of value entering the protocol.

Auto-compounding
Users can also choose to compound.
Instead of withdrawing rewards every cycle, they can automatically add them back into their deposited position.
As that position grows, so does its weight inside the pool.
Over time, compounding increases a participant’s share without requiring continuous manual deposits.
That creates the “flywheel.”
Protocol activity generates revenue.
Revenue grows positions.
Larger positions earn a larger share of future revenue.
The system reinforces itself through participation rather than inflation.

Why this could scale
This is the part I’m most excited about.
Bullion is only one implementation.
The long-term vision is much larger.
Imagine hundreds of projects all using the same distribution infrastructure.
One launchpad routes creator fees.
An NFT marketplace routes royalties.
A game routes marketplace revenue.
A DAO routes treasury income.

Each project keeps its own identity and business model, but they all share the same underlying distribution engine.
Instead of every team building reward logic from scratch, they configure Flywheel to match their ecosystem.

That dramatically lowers the complexity of launching sustainable reward systems.
It also opens the door to layering additional mechanics on top.

Projects could build quests, loyalty systems, NFT boosts, reputation systems, governance perks, seasonal events, referral programs, LP incentives, and other gamified experiences, all using the same underlying distribution layer.

Flywheel doesn’t replace those systems.
It becomes the foundation they build on.

What about real-world assets?
This is where I think things become really interesting.

As more assets move on-chain, users shouldn’t be limited to earning rewards in only one token.
Instead, projects could eventually allow participants to choose how they want to settle their rewards.

That could mean stablecoins.
It could mean tokenized gold.
It could mean tokenized silver.
Or any supported on-chain asset in the future.

The goal isn’t simply to tokenize real-world assets.
The goal is to make participation in those assets more accessible through decentralized infrastructure.
Someone anywhere in the world with a wallet and an internet connection can participate without needing a traditional brokerage account or local financial institution.
There’s still smart contract risk, market risk, and regulatory uncertainty around RWAs generally, but the direction is compelling.

It’s still early
Bullion is intentionally being used as a beta.
We’re testing assumptions.
Watching how users behave.
Finding edge cases.
Improving the protocol before asking other projects to build on top of it.
Rewards are not guaranteed, and they depend entirely on the economic activity flowing into the protocol.
If no revenue enters Flywheel, there is nothing to distribute.
That’s an intentional design decision.

I’d love feedback
The goal isn’t to convince anyone this is perfect.
It’s to ask whether this is a better direction for crypto.
Instead of building systems that rely primarily on inflation, what if we built infrastructure that distributes actual protocol activity back to participants?
That’s the problem we’re trying to solve.

I am new, but I have finally decided to get involved. During Covid I was strongly offered to buy a bitcoin but I didn't have $20k to lose neither did I have any trust in it back then. I'm thinking to give it a try and buy 1btc for a start. Any advice you could give to a newbie? Is it even a good time to buy it?

Last week's Coldcard hack was a huge blow to the Bitcoin self-custody community.

For years, self-custody has been viewed as the "responsible" and "safe" way to store Bitcoin, but this incident showed that even when you follow that advice, vulnerabilities can still exist, and in this case they allowed thieves to steal users' BTC.

What Happened?

On Thursday (July 30, 2026), Coldcard customers began reporting that their BTC was being sent out of their wallet without their authorization. What first appeared to be a few isolated incidents grew to impact over 7,000 wallets. Many of these wallets existed for years without previous issues or even transactions.

These transfers were the result of a vulnerability affecting the seed phrases that are generated when creating a Coldcard hardware wallet. Coldcard has released several generations of its hardware wallet over the years, including the Mk2, Mk3, Mk4, Mk5, and Q models. Wallets created on Mk2 and Mk3 devices using firmware versions 4.0.1 through 4.1.9 were the most vulnerable, although there were some Mk4, Mk5, and Q wallets also impacted.

When you create a new Bitcoin wallet, the device is supposed to generate a completely random seed phrase that only you know. Due to a bug in the firmware, some affected Coldcard devices didn't generate as much randomness as they should have. That made it possible for attackers (potentially with the help of AI) to mathematically figure out some users' private keys and steal the bitcoin stored in those wallets. If Coldcard users selected the "Roll Dice" option and generated their seed phrase using their own dice rolls instead of relying solely on the device's random number generator, they were not affected by this vulnerability.

What Actions to Take if Your Coldcard Wallet Wasn’t Hacked

If your bitcoin is still in your Coldcard wallet, now is the time to act. Simply updating the firmware is not enough if your wallet was created using an affected firmware version.

Here are the recommended steps:

1. Determine whether your wallet is affected.
   • Mk2/Mk3: Firmware versions 4.0.1 through 4.1.9
   • Mk4/Mk5: Any wallet created before version 5.6.0 (Standard) or 6.6.0X (Edge)
   • Q: Any wallet created before version 1.5.0Q (Standard) or 6.6.0QX (Edge)
2. Install the latest firmware. Update your Coldcard device to the latest firmware available for your model before generating a new wallet.
3. Generate a brand new wallet. After updating, create a new seed phrase. Do not continue using your existing seed if it was generated on an affected firmware version.
4. Verify the new wallet. Write down the new seed phrase, verify the wallet fingerprint and receive address, and confirm your backup is accurate.
5. Move your bitcoin. Once you've confirmed everything is working properly, transfer your BTC to the new wallet.

What to Do if Your Coldcard Wallet Was Hacked

Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, and once the assets have been transferred to another wallet, recovery is extremely unlikely unless law enforcement identifies and seizes the stolen funds.

That said, there are still a few steps you should take:

1. Document everything. Save your wallet addresses, transaction IDs, firmware version, and any other information related to the theft.

2. File a report with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). While recovery is uncommon, reporting helps investigators identify larger patterns and may assist future enforcement actions. This report can be filed online in just a few minutes at https://www.ic3.gov/

3. Monitor your stolen funds. Blockchain explorers can help you track where your bitcoin moves, which may become useful if exchanges freeze or identify the assets in the future.

4. Consult a tax professional. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to claim a theft loss deduction on your U.S. tax return.

U.S. Tax Implications

If you lost cryptocurrency due to a scam, hack, or theft, you may be able to qualify for an ordinary tax deduction under IRC Section 165(c)(2). The following qualifications generally must be met to claim the loss:

1. The loss must qualify as “theft” under the applicable state law. This means it includes a criminal act such as fraud, swindling, false pretenses, etc. The taxpayer must show the property was illegally taken and there was criminal intent.

2. The loss must arise from a profit-motivated transaction. The taxpayer purchased BTC and stored it in their cold wallet with the intent of making a profit.

3. The loss must be claimed in the tax year in which it was discovered, with no reasonable prospect of recovery at the end of that tax year.

#3 is the challenge with this hack, as the assets were stolen in 2026, but there is a chance that law enforcement may be able to recover the assets or that CoinKite may be found responsible and required to pay it’s customers. We will need to see how this situation evolves to determine whether there really is no reasonable prospect of recovery by the end of 2026.

Theft losses are reported on Section B of Form 4684, Casualties and Theft Losses, to the extent of the taxpayer’s COST BASIS. The cost basis part is important, as I often have to remind clients that even though the value of their crypto was much higher when it was stolen, they only get a deduction to the extent of their cost basis (price they paid).

From Form 4684, the resulting ordinary loss flows to Schedule A where itemized deductions are reported. It adds to the same deduction bucket where you report mortgage interest expenses, state taxes, etc.

Your total itemized deductions on Schedule A flow to your Form 1040 and reduce your taxable income.

To the extent the loss created is so big that you have a taxable loss for the tax year, the loss would be carried over and could be used to offset 80% of income in future tax years (IRC 172 limitations).

Note that many CPAs are hesitant to report a cryptocurrency theft loss. I believe this is largely due to confusion related to personal theft losses being nondeductible (per Tax Cuts and Jobs Act) or potentially just a lack of experience surrounding a substantial tax position. If your CPA is not comfortable taking the position, get a second opinion and consider speaking with a crypto-specialized CPA.

Conclusion

The Coldcard incident is a reminder that even the most trusted security tools can have vulnerabilities. While self-custody remains one of the best ways to protect your Bitcoin, no solution is completely risk-free. If you own a Coldcard wallet, take a few minutes to determine whether you're affected and migrate your funds if necessary. If you were one of the unfortunate victims, make sure to document everything, report the theft, and speak with a qualified tax professional to determine whether you're entitled to a deduction. Although nothing can replace stolen bitcoin, the tax code may at least help soften the financial impact.

Hello everyone! I’m new to crypto and would appreciate to hear suggestions of smart short term investments or anywhere I should look when investing in crypto. I’m using Coinbase and I’m currently investing in two crypto, one being $300 in virtuals protocol and the other $50 in stellar Lumens.

so ive never done crypto but im looking for a more secure way to pay for things online. i tried btc on moonpay, but i dont currently have a way to verify the amount they send cause the card i have currently for the time being is linked to my moms bank account and shes not the biggest fan of crypto so i need to be able to do this without that type of verification since i have no way to log into the account and verify the amount that was sent.

just seems like a weird way to verify since when ever i input any card in anywhere, that is never a type of verification thats ever been done.

I havent used my TON wallet in a while (transactions havent been made), and I decided to mint some telegram gifts and etc. I check my wallet address on Tonviewer like I always do, and I notice an extremely unsettling NFT in my collectibles. It was so unbelievably bad that my whole body went through a feeling I never felt before. The creepy part is that there was no transaction in the history for that NFT. I found a burn address, so I sent the NFT there and burned it. The website I was using to look at the burn address showed that It was receiving other NFTs from other wallets aswell, however on the website the NFTs were blurred. So me being curious to see if its the same one I received, I copied the contract address of the NFT and searched it up on Tonviewer, and it was a picture 10x worse than the one I received. I never looked up to the ceiling so fast in my life before. I can confidently say that I am traumatized. I never knew receiving spam like this was possible. I won't describe the picture in the NFT because of how unpleasant it was, but it was human related.

TL;DR

My TON wallet received a horrifying human related picture NFT quietly, without even showing up as a transaction in my wallet.

What can I do to avoid this? Is my only option creating a new wallet? But even then I feel like that won't avoid it.

8 hours after this post and burning the NFT, I received 2 more... And everytime I burn the NFT, I receive a new one. Gonna have to make a new wallet I guess.

Well didn't think I would be posting something like this but here I am. I've been a holder of BTC/ETH for years, got a Ledger Wallet a while ago and it's been sitting in my drawer. I decided I wanted to transfer some out so I got my Nano X out, entered my pin, and connected to my phone. Before I could transfer I had to do a mandatory firmware update, and had to connect to my desktop. It's been a while and recently got a new laptop so I forgot it was a dedicated app.

Without really thinking I google Ledger Live and clicked on the first link, it looked like the real site and it said I needed to update my firmware which I did. I then clicked on the next step and forgot the only crypto rule. It was a screen to enter my 24 word phrase and I did.

It took a me a few minutes to notice my mess up and saw my funds gone. Was pretty stunned and upset with myself. Filed with the IC3 but realize there is a 0% chance of getting it back but figured I share here for awareness even if it was completely obvious and also don't know what else to do. Was doing a sale online with someone for a video game related thing, ended up recieving $1,397 in Bitcoin. It was in my Exodus wallet saying “Recieving…”, so I told the guy I’d wait for the transaction to confirm before giving him what he paid for.

He started pressuring me to send the stuff anyway, saying that crypto transactions are permanent, that hes in a rush, etc. I still insisted on waiting so he eventually ended up blocking me.

Then the Bitcoin immediately disappeared from my wallet. Nothing even showed up in my transaction history. The only proof i have of ever recieving it is an Exodus notification and I screenshot I took. I have the txid and it says “invalid” but Im just confused as to how this works, since theres no way to cancel an Exodus transaction or anything like that as far as I know.

Im sure we all want to determine what the safest hardware wallet is after this whole ColdCard scenario. So i propose that we audit Trezor as a community. They have stood the test of time, but now its time to test their code.

So today I finally published a tool I’ve been building for months. It’s a pretty simple tool. Translates market data into plain English words saving users time analysing charts.

We’ve had a few people disagree with this because “if people want to trade they should know how to read a chart” which is fair enough. But it can also be used as an education tool to put right next to a chart to understand what it shows and what it means.

I work 40-50 hours a week, so of course I don’t have the time to trade like I use to have as a student. We built this for people who are in the same situation work, have a family or even just beginners.

Hey guys, if you missed it, Singularity Future Technology settled $3 million with investors over claims it falsely promoted its shift from a shipping business to a cryptocurrency company. They're still reviewing late claims.

Quick recap: Investors alleged the company misled the market by claiming it had proprietary crypto mining technology, major partnerships, and large infrastructure deals that were later called into question. As those issues came to light, $SGLY lost more than 90% of its value, and investors filed a lawsuit.

The company has now agreed to a $3 million settlement, and late claims are still being considered.

I had invested a small amount using the Binance app of around 234 usd in bitcoin in the year 2021, i was a kid then borrowed money from my dad. Setting up crypto payouts for contractors and trying to decide whether to standardize on USDT or USDC. Is there an actual practical difference for a business or is it mostly personal preference?

BitMine says it now holds almost 5.8M ETH. Around 4.9M of that is already staked, so roughly 85% of its ETH position is earning validator rewards.

The company estimates the current staking revenue at about $247M a year. What interests me is that this is no longer just a company keeping ETH on its balance sheet. It is also building one of the largest concentrated staking positions.

That may work well for shareholders, but at some point corporate ETH treasuries also become a decentralization question.

Strategy sold 1,638 BTC last week for about $105M. According to the filing, roughly half went to preferred stock dividends and the other half went to buying back STRC shares. They still hold 842,138 BTC, so this wasn’t some huge dump.

But I think the reason matters more than the size. Once BTC starts being used to support the company’s capital structure, Strategy looks a little less like a permanent Bitcoin vault and more like a leveraged company with bills to pay.

However, I managed to escape some of my funds via Banxa, which was built into the BitMart application.

For some reason, Banxa is not processing the transactions and is unresponsive to support tickets as well.

The recent Coldcard vulnerability involved a firmware bug that caused devices to use a weak software pseudo-random generator instead of the hardware true random number generator (TRNG).

Wouldn't it be safer to generate a seed phrase by rolling casino-grade dice? The last word of the seedphrase is easily computed by entering the first 11 or 23 words into any hardware wallet without affecting entropy as it's just a checksum. This would entirely bypass the device’s internal RNG, giving 100% independent entropy taht no attacker could predict.

I keep seeing people talk about Pepecoin, but every time I try to look into it, I get mixed up. Is it just another token running on Ethereum with those crazy gas fees, or does it actually have its own blockchain like Doge or Litecoin?

Trying to figure out if there is an actual Layer 1 for Pepe or if it is all just smart contracts. How does this even work?

If I made a mistake and withdrew from online casino to an exchange, what can happen to the funds? The adress is correct, the transaction is finished, but the exchange wants verification of the deposit (Satoshi test).

I swapped $200K worth of BTC to ETH on ThorSwap, and my funds were stuck for over two hours. The transaction was confirmed on-chain, but my ETH just would not arrive. Sat there refreshing the outbound queue like their FAQ says, and absolutely nothing moved for hours.

Finally got my ETH released, but by then BTC and ETH had both moved against me. Ended up eating a 2.3% loss just from price changes during the wait. Thousands of dollars gone for absolutely no reason. Has anyone else dealt with this on a large swap? What are you using instead because I am never touching ThorSwap again

I recently made a satirical post in another subreddit about the amount of security supposedly required to store Bitcoin safely. The satire deliberately exaggerated the point, but I would like to discuss the underlying concern seriously here. As a full disclosure, I am very skeptical of cryptocurrencies in general, but I find it interesting to follow.

My concern is not that the Bitcoin protocol itself is easy to hack.With self-custody, possession of the private key effectively determines control of the money. That provides genuine independence from intermediaries, but it also transfers a large collection of responsibilities from financial institutions to individual users.

A person holding a meaningful amount must potentially think about:

• Malware and compromised computers or phones
• Phishing and fraudulent wallet interfaces
• Malicious or compromised transaction addresses
• Hardware-wallet and supply-chain risks
• Secure creation and storage of seed phrases
• Fire, flooding, theft and accidental destruction
• Password or passphrase loss
• Backups that are both redundant and inaccessible to thieves
• Firmware and software updates
• Physical coercion or kidnapping
• Recovery after incapacity
• Inheritance without giving heirs premature access

The official Bitcoin guidance itself recommends measures such as multiple secure backup locations, encrypted backups, offline storage, hardware wallets, software updates, multisignature arrangements and an inheritance plan. Bitcoin Core also gives users a wallet-responsibility checklist that includes backups, cold storage, monitoring security notifications and ensuring heirs can recover the funds.

These are reasonable recommendations. The problem is that, taken together, they resemble a simplified institutional key-management program.

Professional organizations treat cryptographic key management as an entire discipline involving policies, defined responsibilities, backup, recovery, compromise procedures, lifecycle management and documented security practices. NIST has hundreds of pages of guidance on this subject. Most ordinary users cannot realistically audit their wallet software, evaluate firmware, design a robust multisignature arrangement or test an inheritance procedure without introducing another vulnerability.

I recognize the counterargument. Self-custody can be extremely valuable for people facing capital controls, political repression, unstable institutions or exclusion from financial services. Some users also knowingly accept the operational burden because censorship resistance matters more to them than recoverability, but that use case seems tiny, similar to TOR. That is not what the current valuations we see are based on. People expect mass adoption.

I believe mass adoption necessarily means that most people interact with cryptocurrency through regulated custodians and other institutions, effectively rebuilding much of the banking infrastructure that cryptocurrency was supposed to replace. However, centralization makes cryptocurrencies pointless. You might as well use a database, or some kind of centralized standard like SWIFT used by thousands of institutions to send money.

Obviously, most people here believe in cryptocurrencies. How do you solve the contradiction in my previous paragraph?

Is it safe to store Bitcoins in Muun wallet for a long term, on a formatted spare Android phone (running on Android 9) that is always offline?

Self custody is not a problem, what happened is that generating your seed with a ColdCard MK3 would not have enough entropy, making your private key easy to be guessed, thats it. Your MK3 is still usable, but you should NOT use it to generate a seed, instead you have to use any other solution to generate your seed and then load it on your MK3.

As the title says, anyone using kraken funded? Trying to gauge if it’s worth it or are you better off just doing futures? Same thing applies: lose 5% and you lose your buy in, once you pass the “test” phase you’re amplifying your profits while limiting your potential loss to whatever your buy in was.

Currently doing the 5k one for 2 weeks. Still on the test phase with 8.9% gain. Need 12% gain to go into real money. One thing iv learned: Im definitely not great at day trading. 2% up, 2% up, 3% down, 2% up, 2% down etc…

The pros with it:

-you’re limited on how much you can lose with your buy in.

-If you play your hands carefully you can potentially make a decent profit.

-if you have a tendency to gamble or trade for fun, it’s ideal for entertainment purposes. A small sum of money can keep you trading for a long time.

The cons:

-Once you lose 5% you’re out whereas you need to gain 12% to be in.

-if you’re already decent at day/swing trading, you may be better off just doing futures and not having to give 20% to kraken.

-once you are in the “real” money, it starts over again you’re back to 0% PNL. Basically removing anything you had built up and giving you another opportunity to lose the 5%!

-With the sum involved(5/10k), one bad trade could easily knock you out!

Anyway, just interested in hearing opinions/strategies or wondering if I missed something… I like the concept of it but it’s one of those things”if it sounds too good to be true…”.

With the recent ColdCard situation, it’s really making me wonder if our crypto is truly safe anywhere? It feels like these companies keep fucking up in every way possible.

A few years ago i got into crypto and bought a ledger nano plus. But now that wallet sucks and its Mac application is sketchy af to where i don’t trust it. I was considering a Trezor or ColdCard, but now I’m starting to question whether there is a hardware wallet that is actually safe.

I'm based in Australia, and have only just gotten into cryptocurrency, and saw that Revolut has a crypto section. So is it any good? Or what apps would you guys recommend? Thanks

I used to support Bitcoin and believed self-custody was the safest way to protect your money. But after seeing so many people lose years of savings while using hardware wallets, I’ve completely changed my mind.

What really gets me is that many of these people weren’t being reckless. They bought reputable hardware wallets, moved their coins off exchanges because that’s what the crypto community tells everyone to do, and genuinely believed they were following best practices. Then one day their wallets were empty, and there was nothing they could do. At least if someone steals my XRP off coinbase, maybe Coinbase can help me. If anything, exchanges are now safer at this point!

I know some of these cases could have been caused by user error, compromised seed phrases, or other security mistakes. But that’s exactly the problem. If one mistake or one security lapse you don’t even realize happened can permanently wipe out years of savings with no customer support, no fraud protection, and no way to recover your money, that’s not a level of risk I’m willing to accept.

I’ve reached the point where I’m done with crypto and done defending it. I’d rather invest in assets that have safeguards and don’t require perfect security practices just to avoid losing everything.

Maybe Bitcoin isn’t for me anymore. Seeing story after story of people who thought they were doing everything right and still ended up losing life-changing amounts of money was enough to change my opinion. I’m curious if anyone else has had the same change of heart.

This ColdCard news has got me shook. Thankfully I don’t use ColdCard but seeing the amount of people who lost their BTC unexpectedly has made me question if this can happen to other cold wallets.

1. Format the phone

2. Install nothing but a Self-Custodial Bitcoin wallet app on the phone

3. Transfer Bitcoins to the wallet

5. Keep the phone switched off until needed.

I am needing to cash out all my crypto holdings. Its mainly Bitcoin & Eth. It's in a cold wallet currently. Should I move it to Coinbase(still have an account there but almost no $$ in there as I moved it all to a cold wallet last year.) & then convert to US dollars to cash out? Or, should I go through Robinhood?

So the Titel says it all really, how can I reach support, I left germany with the car omw to spain and now in france, I installed the app on my new phone and new number and boom account and card deactivated. If everyone has similar AI capabilities, maybe the real advantage comes from how those capabilities are connected into everyday work.

Am I overthinking it?

Been in this space a few years now and something that keeps bugging me is how anyone holding anything besides BTC gets immediately labeled a “shitcoiner” in threads like this. I get the OG respect BTC deserves, but at this point its market cap is so massive that the realistic upside from here is just… limited. You’re not getting 10x on a multi-trillion dollar asset without something insane happening.

Meanwhile there’s projects doing genuinely interesting things that get dismissed without a second look. ZEC for example, it’s essentially BTC’s core value prop (sound money, scarcity) but with actual privacy tech and quantum-resistant cryptography baked in. That’s up over 10x in the last year. Hyperliquid is another one, this isn’t some meme coin, it’s a platform generating billions in real revenue

I’m not saying dump your BTC. I’m saying the “anything that isn’t BTC is a scam” mentality is lazy and it’s costing people returns. There’s a difference between actual garbage projects and coins with real tech, real usage, and real revenue behind them.

So, I've been seeing more discussions about quantum computing and its potential impact on crypto.

Most conversations still focus on scalability, AI, or tokenization, while quantum security rarely gets mentioned.

I was trying to move some small amounts around and crypto.com doesn't recognize the code that my authenticator is producing is there anything I can do.

I tried three different authenticators and I get the same message every time and I tried to use their customer support which is basically useless.

The guy/group would simply use no KYC swap services to convert that BTC into Monero or another privacy focused crypto. Even converting the funds to L-BTC and later back to BTC using a new wallet or swapping from L-BTC directly to Monero would make tracing extremely hard to do.

Then, they could occasionally swap small amounts into USDC or USDT and spend them through a crypto debit card, and use that money for stuff.

No amount of blockchain analysis will be able to trace it if the guy/group manage to not f*ck it up and use privacy focused tools to clean all that money.

Ever since Bitmart announced their wind-down, all withdrawals have been frozen or instantly rejected upon submission. Thousands of us are stuck in this mess with zero communication from their end.

To make matters worse, they have now completely disabled OTP messages.

A group of us are actively filing reports and reaching out to legal firms. I’m posting this to raise awareness and urge the community to look into the situation we need all the reach we can get right now..

Most AI wallet demos focus on whether an agent can swap, bridge, stake and rebalance on its own.

That is the easy part.

The hard part is what happens when the agent reads a poisoned webpage, misunderstands a token, retries a failed transaction or follows an instruction that was never meant to control money.

A normal wallet asks for approval one transaction at a time. An agent wallet probably needs policy before execution.

It should know the maximum value it can move each day.

It should have an allowlist of chains and contracts.

Slippage, gas, bridges and token approvals should have hard limits.

Some actions should always require a human signature.

Every active permission should have one immediate kill switch.

The agent should also show a plain language receipt before acting. What it saw. What assumption it made. What it plans to spend. What would make it stop.

Prompts are not a security boundary. A convincing website can change what a model believes. The wallet policy has to stay outside the model and fail closed.

The useful question is not whether AI can manage a wallet. It is how much authority it should receive before it has earned any trust.

Would you let an agent rebalance a small wallet if every transaction sat inside a hard policy, or is onchain autonomy a bad idea even with those limits?

DeFi lending had a brutal Q2. The rsETH exploit shook a lot of confidence in DeFi in general. Borrowing demand was weak. Spreads were tight. Revenue fell.

Some numbers: Aave's interest income dropped 23% & Ethena's fees dropped 21%. In that same window, Spark more than doubled its share of the lending market & stayed profitable. As a defi maximalist, this headline caught my attention. Here's my takeaway's from the latest Blockworks report on their Q2.

First, what is Spark? It's a capital allocator for stablecoins. It sources liquidity from Sky (the protocol formerly known as MakerDAO) & routes that capital across a range of venues: its own market SparkLend, Morpho, institutional desks like Anchorage & Arkis, & Uniswap. It moves the money to wherever demand & spreads are best. Essentially, it's a protocol of DeFi yield farmers trying to maximize return and minimize risk.

The data - Spark went from 4.3% to 10.4% of outstanding loans across the major venues while the combined loan book for that whole group shrank about 30%. It grew its slice while the pie got smaller. Net income was ~$3.3M for the quarter, operating costs flat at $1.1M a month. Spark bought back $1.31M of SPK in Q2 straight out of operating surplus. So here we have a real, profitable business buying back their own tokens with profit.

My takeaway on risk management - In mid-April a bridge exploit elsewhere in DeFi (the rsETH depeg) stressed collateral markets across the board. Spark had built oracle killswitches that freeze loans if an asset's price moves more than 5% off peg, plus rate limits on how fast capital can move. This is growing in the industry (Morpho, Gauntlet, and Yearn and 3 protocols I'm a fan of that also have these kill-switches, but it isn't ubiquitous). During the exploit, Spark took zero loss. In the weeks following the KelpDAO exploit, Spark added ~$1B in inflows. Capital managers evaluated Spark and deployed due to the risk management system.

The third thing Spark is growing as a liquidity engine behind other people's stablecoin products. You can read the entire insight by Blockworkds, but they are basically working with PayPal & PYUSD, Uniswap, Robinhood Earn, and BitGo. The earn programs operate on an infrastructure level, simplifying UX and Spark earns a portion of the yield they generate. Vaults, but vaults with strong integrations.

A lot of Spark's revenue has shifted into one bucket. Distribution rewards (payments from Sky for driving USDS adoption) hit $4.88M in Q2 & now make up around 74% of net revenue, while lending-spread income fell 59% as rates compressed. Distributing a stablecoin at scale is a real, hard job, & demand for it is exploding. Spark does it well, but there's a concentration risk as it makes up so much of the business. At the same time, Spark holds more than double the lending market share it had, so when borrowing demand recovers, that share converts straight into profit. They're positioned for the recovery while having another business that can generate income while waiting on a recovery.

The big takeaway is DeFi is no longer a 1-trick game for the protocols. They need multiple, diverse revenue streams if they're going to survive the competitive landscape and crypto winters. Spark seems to have that. We've seen Aave & Morpho getting into more verticals also.

Some may be bearish on the future of DeFi, but I've never been more bullish.

I didn't lose anything in this hack. But it shook me enough to write this out, because I genuinely believe most retail buyers, including my past self, have no idea what questions to ask before buying a hardware wallet.

What actually happened

This wasn't a hack in the traditional sense. Nobody broke into a server. Nobody phished anyone.

A firmware bug introduced in March 2021 caused Coldcard's Mk3 devices to silently skip their hardware random number generator during seed creation. Instead of drawing entropy from a secure hardware source, the device fell back to software-based generation seeded by the chip's serial number and internal clock registers. Neither of those are secret. Neither of those are random in any meaningful sense.

The result: seeds that should have had 2^128 possible combinations instead had around 4.2 billion. A desktop computer can run through 4.2 billion combinations in about 20 minutes.

The attacker didn't guess your seed. They predicted it. And they did it to 500 wallets simultaneously in under half an hour.

The terrifying part: this bug lived silently in the firmware for five years. People who did everything right, bought hardware, went self-custody, stayed off exchanges, lost everything anyway.

The questions every hardware wallet buyer should ask

Part 1: The architecture questions

Does the wallet use a certified secure element? Not just "a secure chip" but one with independent third party certifications like EAL5+ or EAL6+. This means the chip's randomness has been mathematically verified to produce full entropy.

Is the firmware open source with reproducible builds? The Coldcard bug went undetected for five years partly because auditing complex firmware is hard. Open source firmware lets independent researchers verify what the device actually does during key generation.

Does a single point of failure exist anywhere in your setup? Even a wallet with a perfect TRNG generates a single seed. One seed means one point of failure. If that seed is ever compromised through a firmware flaw, physical attack, or supply chain issue, the attacker has everything.

What happens if your device is lost, stolen, or destroyed? Most people think about this in terms of seed phrase backup. But that backup is now your single point of failure. If someone finds it, they have your Bitcoin.

Part 2: My personal journey, not a recommendation

I'm sharing this not to tell you what to buy but to show how I thought through the decision so you can figure out your own path.

After going through Part 1, I started asking a different question entirely. Instead of "how do I protect my seed phrase," I asked "what if I didn't have one?" I also had a specific requirement that most people don't think about until it's too late: I needed non-KYC inheritance support. No custodian. No third party knowing my identity. Just a way to ensure my Bitcoin reaches the right people if something happens to me.

That ruled out Trezor and Bitbox for me. Neither had native non-KYC inheritance support built into the architecture at the time I was evaluating them.

That search led me to Cypherock X1 about two years ago. It uses Shamir's Secret Sharing to split your private key across five components. No single component holds a usable key. You need any two of the five to reconstruct it. Lose three and you're still fine. Someone steals one card and they have nothing. It also has Cypherock Cover, a non-KYC inheritance feature built natively into the product.

Again, I'm not saying it's the right answer for everyone. I'm saying it answered my specific questions. Figure out your own list of questions first, then find what answers them.

How to buy a hardware wallet that won't end up like Coldcard

Before buying anything, ask the manufacturer these questions and verify the answers independently:

• What secure element does the device use and what is its entropy certification?
• Is the firmware fully open source with reproducible builds?
• What is the entropy source during seed generation? Ask for technical documentation, not the marketing page.
• What is the single point of failure in my setup?
• Does the architecture distribute risk or concentrate it?

The crypto community has spent years telling people to get off exchanges. That advice is right. But we never followed it up with "here's how to evaluate what you're moving your Bitcoin into."

Do your own research. Read the technical docs. Ask the questions above. And don't let Reddit recommendations substitute for due diligence.

And most importantly, self-custody is still the way forward. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise

With all the Coldcard issues going around, do you think multi sig is much more needed than before? if so, what options do we have?

I used to own my cryptos on Coinbase for years until I've recently decided to completely switch to owning non-custodial and got my Model T. I need to convert BTC to USDT but i'm mixed wether Trezor Suite is trustworthy / has good rates or it's better instead to send my crypto to an Coinbase and send it back to trezor.

Got a phishing email that looked way too real, spoofed as [hello@crypto.com](mailto:hello@crypto.com), styled exactly like their actual emails. Panicked and went through the whole flow, login, 2FA, all of it. Should’ve caught it, my anti-phishing code wasn’t in the email and I just didn’t think to check being busy at work and frantic. Lesson learned, check that code every time.

Ended up with two LINK to ETH conversions on my account I never made. Caught it, locked the account, changed password, reset 2FA. Nothing actually left my account, which I know I got lucky on.

But that unauthorized conversion cost me close to $1k in value between what I used to have and what I have now, straight to Crypto.com, off a trade I never initiated. Been in their support chat for days now with screenshots and transaction IDs asking them if anything can be done to reverse it and refund the fees just looking for an answer. Just keep getting circular scripted responses. At one point they literally told me “there were no unauthorized transactions” even though I already sent proof it happened. Asking me the same questions multiple times, avoiding my actual question. It’s really been one of the worst experiences of customer service ever.

Not looking for sympathy for falling for this, that’s on me. Just frustrated a company won’t acknowledge fraud on their own platform or help with a resolution to refund fees from a trade I didn’t make. Anyone dealt with this before or know a way to get a resolution from this? Or am I just screwed and should go ahead and convert back to my original coins

But when I sent my coins to Kraken it asks to do ownership verification and there is list of wallets to do the wallet signal, Coldcard is not there tho?
How can I do that then?
