Hypothetically speaking - what if SEC states that ethereum is a security. What would be the impact on ethereum eco system in particular and crypto in general.

Please don’t say that it would not happen or it is commodity etc etc. assume it is security. I am more inclined to know from legal, regulatory and average investor point of view. I understand there will be law suits but what would happen in the interim as law suit will take years.
